Blog EntryThe Needless Death of Tarika WilsonJan 11, '08 1:33 PM
by Tracey for everyone
This link was shared with me via a Yahoo Group that I subscribe to, and it outlines the story of a drug raid gone horribly wrong.

I wept this morning as I read this article.

I wept for the children she leaves behind.

I wept for the loss of her youth and innocence... what could this beautiful young woman have been given that was lacking that led her to six births in eight years? (Not to say that her children were not well-cared for but one has to admit that it's not the best situation)

I weep because we think that we are invulnerable... that it could never happen to us, regardless of the choices we make and the company we keep

I weep for those who have fallen victim to generational apathy and see no way out... nothing better that what is so common place... Welfare and Section 8

I weep because I know that the inevitable pounce of our "Black Leaders" on this community isn't going to be anything but a bunch of worthless lip service...

Rest In Peace, Tarika.

What I want to know is why is this not all over CNN? Today I admittedly do not care one IOTA about a mentally unstable dead Marine ... and while this young lady may have had a lot going on in her life, I want to know why those cops felt it necessary to shoot her!

I read the article and I thank you for sharing it. Regardless of what happened in that home, Tarika Wilson was killed unnecessarily. NO police raid should be conducted on a house where several small children are present, unless it is to save the lives of those children. And to go in shooting, not knowing or even caring who the bullets would hit...they KNEW there were children inside, and probably knew that there would be at least one female (Tarika). This is just sad...this is why no one trusts police anymore.

So sad and yet what will be done? If at any time in America, our (Black) lives have no value even moreso as of current. What makes it even sadder, is the fact that we don't value our own. Thanks for sharing this story.

WOW...it is a bad situation with so many angles to it.

The police were wrong period, point blank...no reason to have shoot and killed her.

This is tragic, But it seems like a clear case of swat/ police wrongdoing. This should be very easy for a attorney to lawsuit the city for negligence on police part. They have strict rules of serving warrants where kids are involved. Clear Violation.

I wonder if that was the only photo they could find of this women? I am sure that if asked the family would have provided one. Is this jail house photo a symbolic/subliminal way of justification for police negligence? I also look at the photo of Terry, the pain is etched all across his face. There will be more martyr's due to the police, unless we accept that there is a certain mental condition that many police officers have, Authoritative Personality and they need treatment for it.

If they knew children were in the home, wouldn't logic dictate that they wait until Terry was outside of the home to do their deed? If they surveiled him why could they not find a way to arrest him, and approach the home using the proceedures that cleary their guidelines call for? It will be interesting to hear the nonsense they come up with to explain this one. And folks will buy it.

Also, police officers tend to always justify things like this by stating they felt their lives were in danger. That's kind of silly seeing as that's what police officers do for a living, the job calls for that... This whole thing is senseless. I can only hope that folks don't march today and forget about it 2morow. I am so tired of our media appointed Black leaders. I doubt that Al or Jessie will be leading any marches on this one, and seriously believe that the folks of Lima would not want them to. Thosew 2 tend to taint and polorize everything.

I'm so tired of feeling the tears of injustice and the unexplainable... I'm so tired of the police insulting my intelligence with worthless dribble, and yet I know that for me at least there will be no rest. Thank u for bringing this to my attention my heart has another stab wound to add to others. I hope that I never get used to the pain. Somehow I see a bit of Mary Turner in this cause someone somewhere will blame her for getting killed.
